A PostgreSQL dashboard, described in plain language
If your company's data already lives in PostgreSQL — from an in-house ERP, a legacy system or a warehouse — theo builds the dashboard on top of it. Connect the database in read-only mode, describe what you want to see ("sales by month, top 10 customers, late orders") and theo generates the screens, queries and charts. Not a single row is changed in your database.
How the connection works
In Integrations → External PostgreSQL, enter the connection string of a read-only user. theo tries SSL first. The integration is read-only by design: no INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE is allowed through it. Use a user that can reach only the tables the dashboard needs. MySQL is supported the same way.
Describe the dashboard
Once connected, describe the panel: KPIs at the top, charts by period, tables with filters. theo writes the queries and builds the screens. Want another chart tomorrow? Ask in the chat.
Share without sharing the database
Viewers sign in to theo with their own accounts and never receive the database password — it stays with the integration's secrets, outside the app's code. You decide who sees the dashboard with roles and permissions.
Frequently asked questions
- Does theo change anything in my database?
- No. The external PostgreSQL integration is read-only; INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE are not allowed through it. Still, use a database user with read-only permission.
- Do I need to know SQL?
- No. You describe what you want to see and theo writes the queries. If you know SQL, you can review the generated code.
- Does my database need to be reachable from the internet?
- Yes: theo's server has to be able to connect to it. Open access only as far as needed and use SSL.
